How to spell this name correctly?

Please read carefully... I want to name my son Joel as pronounced...(Joe-elle) NOT Joel as in billy Joel.With that said I think the correct way for it to be spelled is simply Joel with one L My husband says no its with two L's or else it will mistakenly be pronounced as in Billy Joel's last name-Thank you for reading please help with the spelling? :)
